East Dunbartonshire Council has launched a new mobile phone app – meaning that you can not only get the very latest news from the Council but also report any issues or comments.

Launching this week and available on Android, Blackberry and iPhones/iPads, ‘My EDC’ is the new app, the next development of the Council’s programme of community engagement.

The My Council Services platform from firm Abavus offers a unique set of capabilities designed to support and accelerate the organisation’s transformation and shift towards modern technology.

Rhondda Geekie, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council said: “We are working hard to improve our standards of customer service and this new phone app is another new way for us to communicate with local people.

“We are developing various contact methods in line with our ‘click, call, come in’ approach to customer services, further sections will be added to the app in the future.

“The free app, ‘My EDC’ is designed to make it convenient and straightforward for people to report issues, comments and problems directly to the Council or look up information on the move.

Photos of the issue can also be taken and sent at the same time. So problems like dog fouling, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, dumped rubbish, fly posting and street cleaning can be reported and automatically directed to the right officer in the Council.

Local people using the new service will receive updates, information and feedback on the issue they have raised via the app. In addition to making reports, users can look up key news in the area and find Councillor details.

”Councillor Geekie added, “Our website recently received 4 star status and is always evolving to ensure it delivers what local people want. “We now have a single phone number 0300 1234510 which customers can use for any issue and to contact all services and we are rolling out Community Hubs across the area providing a one-stop shop for all Council business under one roof. This new phone app is a natural progression, giving residents an additional, easy-to-use option when they want to talk to us. I am excited at the new possibilities it offer.”
