During Local Gov Camp – Gov 4.0 event we heard about all the work that Amazon Alexa and their partners are doing to support people living more independent lives for longer while also driving efficiency gains for local authorities. Alexa Smart Properties has been designed to allow property owners to deploy and manage Alexa-enabled devices at scale. Custom skills enable tasks like playing music, controlling room features, and finding information.

North Tyneside Council are focusing on Reablement & Discharge to support the care plan and speed up hospital discharge

Sunderland City Council are piloting 50 Alexa devices to support take-up Telecare

Project outcomes being assessed:

Hours of monitoring.
Engagement with the device.
Hours of entertainment used.
Number of questions answered through the device.
Actions and requests logged.
Number of Telecare Calls before and after installation.
Hospital Discharge and readmittance.
Virtual Visits verses Physical Visits.
