In the wake of a cyber incident in 2020, Hackney chose a twin path for recovery.
In parallel with rebuilding the legacy social care system, the team recognised that this was a complex and lengthy task and used the need for more sustainable interim tools as an opportunity to explore the potential to build a modern, resilient, user-centred social platform using open source software, with the council’s own team working alongside expert external partners to move at pace.
