Practical digital, data and technology work that delivers value now and builds readiness for LGR.

This practical one-day event will help councils use the pause in Local Government Reorganisation to understand their services, strengthen their foundations and build relationships across organisational boundaries.

The focus is work with lasting value: improving services today while reducing the discovery, duplication and uncertainty councils will face when LGR moves forward. The agenda is fluid and will be adapted around participating councils and contributors.

Building on LGRCamp East Midlands
The earlier event explored process capture, the minimum viable council, managing change, digital blueprints, lessons from previous reorganisations, and income management. This follow-on event turns those themes into practical preparation.

PROPOSED SESSION TOPICS

What has paused and what can still progress?
Distinguish work dependent on future decisions from useful improvements now. Create a shared list of priorities and uncertainties.

Unpacking the LGRCamp suitcase
We will revisit the people, process and technology exercise. What should councils retain, improve, understand or stop carrying forward?

Map together before you merge
Capture and compare the same service across councils without an agreed future structure. Identify common steps, local differences, handoffs and avoidable complexity.

Get your digital house in order
Build a picture of applications, contracts, integrations, suppliers, costs and ownership. Identify missing information and decisions that could restrict future options.

Data readiness starts now
Explore ownership, quality, definitions, retention and dependencies. Prioritise improvements before future migration or consolidation.

From safe and legal to resilient today
Examine critical service dependencies, access controls, recovery arrangements and supplier reliance. The session will identify improvements for current operations and future transition.

One view of change through the pause and beyond
Maintain a proportionate view of projects, dependencies, capacity, benefits and decisions. Identify work to continue, adapt or hold, with reasons recorded.
